Visions du Reel 2024 – The VDR Industry
The 2024 edition of the Swiss documentary film festival Visions du Reel launched 29 projects within its industry section VdR-Industry. The selection of films at various stages of production was based on artistic ambition with strong topics and potential for international exposure. Sixteen of the selected films were invited to pitch their ideas to professionals in the film industry during the four-day VdR-Pitching and VdR-Work in Progress forums. This year, two new cash awards were announced. The Eurimages Co-production Development Award was handed over to “The Last Days of the Hospital” directed by Mehran Tamadon (My Worst Enemy, Bassidji). The Xe Award, accompanied with CHF 20,000 in cash, was given to Salvatore of Lucan’s “Life of Tipu” that tells the story of an Irish-Bangladeshi artist who discovers his father’s estranged son on Facebook and embarks on an odyssey to meet him.

Additionally, a centralized portal can significantly cut back on the amount of time and money that could be spent physically handling documentation.
